Panopto Service Degradation - Resolved

Update 8/29: Service has been restored for all users.
Due to a partial service disruption, some users may encounter playback issues on Panopto recordings and webcasts:
- Users may encounter an error page when opening Panopto LTI activities from Moodle.
- Panopto webcasts may not play correctly on the first attempt. If a video fails to play, please try refreshing the page or attempting to play and pause the video several times.
Panopto Support is aware of these issues and is actively working on restoring service. For more information and updates, please see Panopto's status page: https://trust.panopto.com/
Moodle 4.5 Performance Updates

On Saturday, August 23rd, between 7:00 am and 10:00 am, DELTA staff will be performing updates to the Moodle service, including Courses, Project, and Outreach servers. We do not expect any interruptions to service during this work.
WolfWare - 2025 Fall updates

On Thursday, August 21st, between 5:45pm and 6:00pm, DELTA staff will be performing updates to the WolfWare website. No interruptions to service are expected during this work.
WolfWare Enrollment Issue - Resolved

Update 11:35am: WolfWare enrollments should be functioning correctly again.
DELTA is receiving reports of an issue in WolfWare that is currently impacting Moodle course enrollments and access for some users. Our teams are actively investigating this issue and will provide more information as soon as possible.

Upgrade PHP on WolfWare and apps.delta

On Tuesday, August 5th, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, DELTA staff will be upgrading the version of PHP on WolfWare and the apps.delta server. There will be a short (<20 minute) interruption to WolfWare, DELTA websites, Proctoring Tools, and several other tools during this time. We do not expect any extended outages to these services.
Remove two old/unneeded configuration items in the load balancer

On Monday, August 4th, between noon and 1:00 pm, DELTA staff will be performing maintenance on the DELTA load balancer configurations. We do not expect any interruption of service during this work, but are notifying our users in case something goes wrong.
Moodle 4.5 plugin updates

On Monday, August 4th, between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm, DELTA staff will be performing updates to Moodle 4.5 and the third party plugins used in Moodle. This work will cause a brief (<15 minute) interruption to all Moodle servers (Courses, Projects, and Outreach). We do not expect any extended interruptions during this work.
update DELTA's load balancer to latest tested release

On Monday, August 4th, between 7:00 and 12:00 noon, DELTA staff will be updating the DELTA load balancers to the latest release. Due to the redundant nature of the system we do not expect any interruption to services during this time.
Linux server reboots and updates

During the week of August 4th through 9th, DELTA staff will be rebooting our Linux servers to apply kernel and security updates. Most of the customer facing systems will have their servers rebooted during other maintenances and so should not have any extra interruptions. Additionally, as most systems have redundant servers, their reboots will be in sequence to prevent interruptions. Any servers that do not fall into those categories will be rebooted at times of low usage.

On Saturday, July 26th between 6:00 and 8:00 am, DELTA staff will be rebooting a database cluster to clear out some developing issues. This reboot will cause a short (<15 minute) interruption to WolfWare, the DELTA websites, the Proctoring tool, and other services. We do not anticipate any extended outages due to this work.

Update as of 12:18pm: impacted Panopto services have been restored.
Due to a partial service disruption, new videos uploaded to Panopto may take longer than expected to process. Panopto is aware of the issue and is working on restoring service.

Summer 2025 Courses Now Available in the Moodle Mobile App

Quiz Degradation in Moodle Outreach and Projects Courses

Update 3:34pm: We believe the issue has been fixed. If you continue to see the problem please contact learntech@help.ncsu.edu We have received reports of an issue impacting quizzes in Moodle Projects and Outreach spaces. Instructors and students may encounter unexpected errors when accessing quizzes or question banks. Our development team is working to resolve this as quickly as possible.

Changes to DELTA gen-db cluster

We anticipate a short (< 15 minute) interruption to these tools during this time. This will not directly affect Moodle, Zoom, Panopto, or WolfWare WordPress.

On Monday, May 5th, between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm, DELTA staff will be upgrading the Projects and Outreach Moodle servers to the latest support version (4.5). This keeps the service up to date with a supported version of Moodle. There will be extended outages of both Projects and Outreach during this time.
