DELTA infrastructure maintenance

DELTA systems staff will be performing a series of maintenance items starting the morning of Monday, March 6th and continuing through noon of Tuesday, March 7th. While we do not expect any major outages of DELTA services such as WolfWare, Moodle, or Mediasite, there will be several short outages and/or periods of sluggishness and instability during this time.<br /> <br /> Our expected schedule is as follows: Monday morning: DELTA staff will be applying firmware updates to our storage arrays. This is expected to cause 30 - 60 minutes of sluggishness in DELTA services.<br /> <br /> Monday afternoon: DELTA staff will be updating the PHP version on the servers, rebooting Linux servers to apply the latest kernels, moving our primary MySQL database to a new server, and updating the Microsoft SQL Server (for Mediasite) to the latest version. This work will cause several short outages (~5 minutes) to WolfWare and Moodle while critical servers such as databases reboot. Mediasite will experience a short (~15-20 minute) outage during the SQL Server upgrade.<br /> <br /> Tuesday morning: updates will be applied to the F5 load balancers. This will cause a brief outage of all DELTA services.

OIT Extended Maintenance

OIT will be performing their quarterly extended data center maintenance on Feb 4-5. As DELTA services including WolfWare, Moodle, Mediasite, and Collaborate depend on OIT services such as Shibboleth, DNS, and ActiveDirectory, there may be impacts to DELTA services. Such impacts are likely to include inability to login and permission issues, but could include more noticeable problems as well. Mediasite outage

There was a brief server outage which may have caused some playback issues for any MyMediasite instance users. It did not affect any other instances. WolfWare Classic database server maintenance

During the OIT Extended Data Center maintenance 11/5-11/6 the database server behind WolfWare Classic will be shut down briefly. Expected downtime is one hour, targeted for 10am, but it could be longer if there are any issues. While the database is down all portions of WolfWare Classic except for serving webpages will not work including MessageBoard, Submit, email lists, and AdminTool.<br /> <br /> For the latest updates on the OIT maintenance please see https://sysnews.ncsu.edu/news/580578bc

Moodle issues

This caused intermittent "Database connection failed" error messages and timeouts. These issues began around 2:05pm and lasted until 2:25pm. We will continue to monitor and work to mitigate against future occurrences of this issue.<br /> <br />

There was a brief system-wide Mediasite outage over the past 10 minutes or so. This has been resolved.
