Quiz Degradation in Moodle Outreach and Projects Courses

Update 3:34pm: We believe the issue has been fixed. If you continue to see the problem please contact learntech@help.ncsu.edu We have received reports of an issue impacting quizzes in Moodle Projects and Outreach spaces. Instructors and students may encounter unexpected errors when accessing quizzes or question banks. Our development team is working to resolve this as quickly as possible.
Update WWWP Projects and Outreach servers to version 6.7.2

On Tuesday, May 6th, between 9:00 am and 11:00 am, DELTA staff will be performing updates to the WolfWare WordPress Projects and Outreach servers. There will be brief (<15 minutes) interruptions to each service. This will not affect the WWWP Courses servers.
Changes to DELTA gen-db cluster

On Tuesday, May 6th, between 7:00 am and 12:00 noon, DELTA staff will be implementing some changes to the database cluster which serves the WolfWare website and a number of other DELTA tools. We anticipate a short (< 15 minute) interruption to these tools during this time. This will not directly affect Moodle, Zoom, Panopto, or WolfWare WordPress.

On Monday, May 5th, between 7:00 am and 1:00 pm, DELTA staff will be performing updates to the Moodle Courses server. There will be a brief (<15 minute) interruption to the service during this period.
Update Moodle Projects and Outreach servers to version 4.5.3

On Monday, May 5th, between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm, DELTA staff will be upgrading the Projects and Outreach Moodle servers to the latest support version (4.5). This keeps the service up to date with a supported version of Moodle. There will be extended outages of both Projects and Outreach during this time.

On Saturday, April 5th, between 7:00 am and 10:00 am, DELTA staff will be performing maintenance on Moodle. This work will cause brief (<10 minute) outages on all Moodle environments (Courses, Projects, and Outreach). We do not expect any longer interruptions due to this work.

On Tuesday, March 11, between 7:00 am and 12:00 noon, DELTA staff will be preforming updates to the Vast storage clusters. We do not expect there to be any interruptions beyond possibly some brief delays in using DELTA services, however if something unexpected occurs then a major outage is possible due to the nature of the systems.

On Saturday, February 22nd, between 7:00am and 10:00am, DELTA staff will be applying updates to the Moodle service. This work will cause brief (<10 minute) interruptions to all Moodle environments, including Courses, Projects, and Outreach. While we do not expect any major impacts the longer window is reserved in case of unexpected issues.

On Saturday, February 8th, between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM DELTA staff will be performing updates to the Moodle service. This work will cause brief (<10 minute) interruptions to each of the Moodle servers (Courses, Projects, and Outreach). We do not expect any extended interruptions to service.

Moving racks to consolidate hardware

On Wednesday, December 18th, starting at 8:00 AM, DELTA staff will be moving hardware at MCNC. This will include all of the production computing hardware (blades and chassis) and networking equipment. This will result in a major outage of all DELTA hosted services, including WolfWare, Moodle, WolfWare WordPress, testing center tools, and DELTA websites. Zoom and Panopto will not be affected as they are hosted externally.

Panopto outage

Update 11:11am, Panopto should be functioning correctly again. Panopto's website, recording and encoding of videos, and playback went down around 10:15am. Panopto is aware of the issue and is working on restoring service. For more information see https://trust.panopto.com/.

Update DELTA's Load Balancers

On Monday, October 14th, between 8:00am and noon, DELTA staff will be updating DELTA's load balancers. Due to the redundant nature of the system no interruption of service is expected.
Panopto Video Playback Issues

10/4/24 Update: Panopto installed a software patch on Thursday evening (10/3/2024). We believe this update will resolve issues students are having while trying to view course videos.
9/25/24 We have received reports that some users are experiencing technical issues with Panopto videos linked in Moodle. We are currently working with the vendor to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. In the meantime, impacted users can refer to the below article for troubleshooting steps that can help improve their experience. Troubleshooting Panopto Video Playback.
