DELTA Linux Server reboots and updates

Between Tuesday March 17th at 1:00 pm and Friday March 20th at 6:00 pm, DELTA staff will be updating and rebooting our Linux servers for system and security updates. Due to some non-redundant environments this will cause brief (<10 minute) interruptions to WolfWare, WolfWare WordPress, WeBWorK, DELTA websites, and DELTA Testing Center applications. We will work to ensure any disruptions are outside of normal working hours

Moodle 4.5 Plugin Update

On Wednesday, March 18th, between 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm, DELTA staff will be performing updates to the Moodle servers. This work will cause a brief (<10 minute) interruption to each Moodle server (Courses, Projects, and Outreach).

DELTA Load Balancer updates

On Wednesday, March 18th, between 7:00 am and 12:00 noon, DELTA staff will be applying updates to the DELTA load balancers. Due to the redundant nature of the systems, we do not expect any interruption of services during this work.

DELTA storage cluster update

On Tuesday, March 17th, between 6:00 am and 12:00 noon, DELTA staff will be updating the Vast storage clusters. Due to the redundant nature of the systems we do not expect any interruption of service to occur during this work.

MCNC Data center uplink maintenance

On Monday, March 16th, between 8:30 am and 12:00 noon DELTA's data center provider MCNC will be upgrading the switches which serve as our uplinks to the internet. Due to the redundant nature of the systems, we do not expect any major outages to our services, although users may experience a brief blip when services are failed over from one switch to the backup. However with work such as this there is the possibility that if something goes wrong there could be a major outage of DELTA services.

Resolved - Service Outage Impacting WolfWare Systems

The technical issues affecting the network and authentication services have been fully resolved. WolfWare, Moodle, Zoom, and other impacted services are now functioning as expected.

Turnitin and Gradescope Planned Maintenance (3/7)

There will be scheduled maintenance for Turnitin on Saturday, March 7, from 11:00am-3:00pm EST. During this time, Turnitin services, including Gradescope, Turnitin Feedback Studio, Turnitin Originality Report, and Turnitin Draft Coach, may be intermittently unavailable for both instructors and students.

Moodle 4.5 Updates

On Saturday, February 21st, between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM, DELTA staff will be performing maintenance on the Moodle service. This work will cause a brief (<10 minute) interruption of each Moodle server (Courses, Projects, and Outreach). No extended interruptions are expected from the maintenance.

Performance Degradation in Moodle - Resolved

Fall 2025 Courses Not Displaying in WolfWare

Fall 2025 courses are currently transitioning from the "Current" tab to the "Past" tab in WolfWare. If you cannot find your Fall courses in the either tab, you can access them directly via the Moodle "My Courses" page linked below.

Linux server reboots and updates

During the week of December 15 - December 19th, DELTA staff will be performing reboots of various Linux servers to apply necessary system and security updates. This will cause brief (<10 minute) interruptions to WolfWare WordPress, WeBWork, the DELTA websites and DELTA Testing Center applications. Any reboots that are expected to cause an interruption of service will be time to minimize any disruptions to service.

WolfWare website - Spring 2026 updates

On Wednesday, Dec 17th, between 1:00pm and 6:00pm, DELTA staff will be performing updates to the WolfWare website in preparation for Spring 2026. We do not expect there to be any interruption of service during this time, however there is a chance if something unexpected occurs during the work for an interruption to occur.

Update Moodle to version 4.5.7 and plugin updates

On Monday, December 15th, between 1:00pm and 6:00pm, DELTA staff will be performing updates to the Moodle service, including the Courses, Projects, and Outreach services. During this work there will be a brief (<10 minute) interruption to each of the services. We do not expect any extended interruptions during this time.

Moodle Service Degradation - Resolved

A brief service degradation affected the Moodle Academic Courses server on Friday, December 5 from 1:15pm to 1:18pm. Impacted users may have seen an error message referencing an RDB error in Moodle.

The issue appears to be resolved, and the service is currently operating normally. DELTA's systems team is actively investigating the root cause and is implementing measures to prevent this issue from reoccurring. We apologize for any disruption this error may have caused. 

MCNC Network Maintenance

On Saturday, November 15th, between 7:00 am and 1:00 pm, MCNC Data Center staff will be performing work to upgrade the data center network infrastructure. Due to the redundant nature of our uplinks to the data center networks we are not expected to have any interruptions to our services. However, during work of this type there is always the possibility of an unexpected outage. If an outage does occur DELTA staff will update this message.

Top Hat Planned Maintenance (10/19)

There will be scheduled maintenance for Top Hat on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 5:00 am to 8:00 am EDT. During this time, Top Hat will be temporarily unavailable for both faculty and students. This urgent, proactive maintenance is required for Top Hat to apply a critical security update.

Update DELTA's load balancer

On Tuesday, October 14th, between 7:00 and 9:00 AM, DELTA staff will be updating DELTA's load balancers. Due to the redundant nature of the systems there should not be any interruption of services during this work.

Moodle 4.5 Updates

On Monday, October 13th, between 1:00 and 5:00 PM, DELTA staff will be applying updates to Moodle plugins and applying several configuration changes to all Moodle environments (Courses, Projects, and Outreach). While we do not anticipate any extended outages, there will be a brief (<10 minute) interruption to each of the Moodle servers.

Update of DELTA firewalls

On Monday, October 13th, between 6:00 and 10:00 AM, DELTA staff will be upgrading our Fortigate firewalls to latest supported 7.4 release. Due to the redundant nature of the systems there should not be any extended interruptions to DELTA services but there is the possibility of a momentary blip if someone is accessing DELTA services at the right moment.

Moodle plugin installation

On Saturday, October 4th, between 7:00 am and 10:00 am, DELTA staff will be performing maintenance on the Moodle service. There will be a brief (<10 minute) interruption to each of the Moodle services (Courses, Outreach and Projects) during this time. We do not expect any extended outages due to this work.

Moodle 4.5.6 Upgrade

On Saturday, September 6th, between 7:00 and 10:00 AM, DELTA staff will be upgrading Moodle to version 4.5.6. This work will cause a brief (<10 minute) interruption to each of the Moodle services (Courses, Projects, and Outreach). We do not anticipate any extended outages during this work.

Panopto Outage - Resolved

Update 9/3: Panopto services have been restored, and all impacted content and features should be working as expected. Panopto staff will continue to monitor the system to ensure stable performance.

Panopto is currently experiencing a service outage that is preventing users from signing into the system, viewing videos, and recording new content. Panopto Support is aware of the issue and is actively working to restore service. Additional updates will be provided as soon as possible.
