MAE 511
Advanced Dynamics with Applications to Aerospace Systems
Section: 601

Course Description

This course covers three-dimensional kinematics and kinetics of dynamic systems, including rotating coordinate systems, direction cosine matrices, rotation matrices, Euler angles, Euler parameters, Quaternions, angular velocity and acceleration, the transport theorem, moment of inertia tensors, angular momentum, Newton-Euler methods, Euler's equations of motion, and an introduction to Lagrange's equations. The methods learned in this class are applicable to aircraft, spacecraft, autonomous vehicles and any engineering system with rotating components, e.g. wind turbines, biomechanical systems, machine tools and robotic systems.
