Course Description
This course uses the history of sport across the globe in the modern era to examine the relationship of sport to power, culture, identity, and commercialization. Topics include the relationship between sport and nationalism, colonialism, and imperialism; the operation of sport at the international scale; and the degree to which sport is intertwined with migration and transnational identities.
