Course Description

Introduction to basic aspects of issues pertaining to gender and sexuality in Japanese society including gender norms, different waves of feminism social movements, marriage system, employment inequality and emerging sexual minorities. Reading and critically analyzing scholarly books and articles, news, government statistics, narratives and art works, some of which are translated from Japanese, to understand gender and sexuality politics.
