Course Description
Reviews the history, types, and characteristics of literature for adolescents, and emphasizes reading and analyzing the literature by exploring the themes, literary elements, challenges, and rationale for young adult literature. It addresses the ways in which this literature can be integrated and implemented in an English curriculum. Although the course is primarily designed for future and current high school English teachers, it can also be valuable for those working with adolescents in any capacity or for enhancing one's understanding of young adult literature past and present.
