Course Description
Explores the history, types, and characteristics of young adult literature (YAL), along with best practices in teaching it. Careful consideration is given to defining both who adolescents are and what young adult literature is. Emphasizes reading and analyzing YAL by exploring the themes, literary elements, and rationale for teaching literature for adolescents. Addresses ways in which YAL can be integrated and implemented effectively in an English Language Arts curriculum.
